One Wednesday Evening

On Wednesday Stephen and I got to work on making a sticker book for his sticker collection.  He receives a sticker every day at the end of school for good behavior.  Of course, he has gotten a sticker every day (except one!) and he has saved each and every one in a bag all this time.  I think it is quite amazing that he has such self control to keep all those stickers for this long – he has well over 100.  It took us about two hours – Stephen sorted the stickers and I made pages for each of his categories.

The sorting process:

In the middle of our sticker work Boston said “I see things bouncing in the grass!”  Huh?  I looked out the window to discover sleet/hail/snow falling from the sky!  We all rushed outside to witness this amazing weather event.  We never.  ever. get snow here in the valley.  The boys were wild.  They ran around the yard over and over again.

What an adventure!

Stephen was in the middle of a lap around the yard when there was a blinding flash of lightning, followed instantly by an ear splitting crack of thunder.  It scarred all of us and sent Stephen and Boston running inside in terror.  After a few seconds of staring at each other with wide eyes we all started laughing.  We decided that it was probably safer to stay inside at that point.

Well, we were all laughing except for Boston.  He was not a fan of the lightning.  Here is his post lightning face:

The storm died down and as the clouds drifted away we saw a lovely rainbow!  Then it was back to business with the stickers… Such a tired, big pregnant momma in this picture!

Later, on the news we saw more about this crazy storm.  We got it pretty light where we live, but in other parts of the valley it looked like this:

It was amazing!  There was some debate as to whether it was officially snow or hail or sleet…the official name is graupel.  For all intents and purposes, I would just call it snow!  It looked like snow on the ground and so it is snow!  It was really neat to witness such a weather phenomenon here in Arizona!
