Arrrgh, Treasure!

Saturday morning brought the long anticipated Fraser Fields Swap.  I woke up bright and early, curled my hair, picked up my friend, Clarissa, and headed on over to be first in line.  (Okay, we were fourth and fifth, but it was just as good!)

There was a 50's vintage theme for the swap so I pulled out a "shirt dress" that I wore between pregnancies.  It was a little snug and needed washed (black gets dusty hanging out in the closet).  I was very paranoid that the dress would shrink so I line-dried it with a  pillow rolled up and stuffed inside....  I hope that is not how my body really looks in that dress!  It totally worked by the way - the dress fit just fine!

My grandmother's cute hat that I borrowed from my mom - this is the real deal people - from the 1950's.  I got lots of compliments on that hat!

At the swap with my cute friend Clarissa.

It was really cold!  Okay, I know I look kind of like a dork - that knit veil was tricky to figure out, but I could not stand to have it over my eyes!  I don't know how my Grandma wore this thing!

My contributions to the swap - that is an "antique" milk bottle holder (from Target), a pair of Silver Jeans, a metal hanging basket of sorts, and a "Families are forever" sign.

Here is the swap stuff all set out - people are checking out the goods!

A picture of most of the people who came.... I didn't really know any of them well except for the friend I brought with me, but I would like to be friends with all of them!

Some of the treasures I choose:
Square blue plate to spice up that shelf.  I need some better candles for those holders....

Unopened Bath and Body Works Sugar scrub and some other scrub - I love this stuff - price tag on the bottom was $20!

A red purse - I would never have bought a red purse for myself since it isn't very practical, but hey when its free, a red purse is just perfect!

This darling knit hat.  (Sweet baby not included).

A (very nice) towel ring for our bathroom.  It was brand new in the box.  This item was a favorite with Scott when I brought it home.  Our house doesn't have rings for hand towels!

I also picked up a green magnet board which is going to hang in our den instead of the ugly cork board that is there now.  I forgot to take a picture of it but it looks like a green metal board...so you will have to use your imagination!

As if all of those treasures weren't enough, I also won a door prize....  One month of ballroom dance lessons from Resonate Dance!  Hee Hee!  Scott is totally thrilled to come with me.  (wink wink) He is actually a really good sport about things like this...now we just have to decide what kind of dance we want to learn.

I got to set up a booth to sell my nursing covers (there was a mini boutique) and had some great success there as well.  As you can see this whole affair was a win-win-win situation for me!  What a fun day!

What a great idea to wash and dry a snug dress...

I'm glad it was such a successful day, great finds! ...and ooh, I'm jealous of the dance lessons (and a semi-willing and happy hubby to go!) Jeff and I finally came to an agreement that once he gets his sailboat, he'll take dance lessons with me. (...so, when we're 60?) Better late than never I guess.
