Burn Out

I have got a major case of burn out.  I have been trying to do too much too fast.  I still have more that I want and need to do...the lists are infinite and endless but all I really want is to curl up with a book or in front of the TV and zone out for awhile, preferably while consuming chocolate.  Then again, that would be counter-productive to consume chocolate in front of the TV because one of those things to do is loose some lbs.

PS I blame crafting for the burn out.  Last weekend's "Bazaar" really did me in!  Though I did make some $$ so that always sweetens the deal.

PPS Have you played "Just Dance" for Wii?  LOVE it.  I want a Wii just so I can play this game every morning for exercise.

The Magic Kingdom

Counting down...Stephen drew that picture of Mickey Mouse...two big ears, a smile...
Only one more day!
Main Street - Stephen can see the castle!
Passing through the castle with Aunt Rebecca and Anna.

The look on Stephen's face while waiting in line...he didn't understand that screaming and throwing a fit wouldn't make the line go any faster.

Boston didn't mind waiting in line - especially when Grandpa Quist held him!

This Disney Land place is alright!

Fake smile from Scott - he was incredibly frustrated with Stephen's lack of patience.

They are still friends though....

Stephen crashed for an hour long snooze on Daddy's shoulder while we ate lunch.

We met Pooh, Tigger, and Eeyore, Lightning McQueen, Tow Mater, and Mickey Mouse up close and caught glimpses of Woody, Jessie, Buzz, Alice, The Queen, The Mad Hatter, Pluto, Mrs. Incredible, and The White Rabbit.

We aren't tired at all - not at all!

A little scary of Stephen but way cute of Stephen with cousin Anna!

I am not sure what Boston sees but it must be totally amazing!

Did you know that these are real cars???  The eyes move...
Me and my sister Celsea waiting in line for Bear Mountain River Run at California Adventure.  It was a looooong wait - we got soaked!

Stephen was tall enough to go on some of the bigger rides such as Space Mountain, Rocky Mountain Railroad, the Matterhorn and Soarin' Over California.  He didn't like the "fast" ones very much.  After Space Mountain (which he rode in the front car with my Dad) he was gripping my dad's arm with his eyes squeezed shut and was saying "I want my mommy.  I want my mommy."  Poor kid!  Well, the other 3 year old girl in line loves that ride so how were we to know he wouldn't like it too?

His two favorite rides were probably Soarin' Over California and Peter Pan (which was his first ride).
We had delightful, exhausting time!

Thanks Dad and Mom for providing the fun, accommodations, and transportation for us.  Thanks to my brother, Aaron and sister-in-law, Rebecca for helping watch our kids so we could go on "grown-up" rides.  Thanks Anna and Jeremiah for being so cute and fun to be around.  And thanks Celsea for screaming with me on the rides!  We will go back to Disney Land someday when the kids are older....

EVMCO

Scott and I had the privilege of attending the East Valley Mormon Choir concert at the Mesa Arts Center last Friday evening.  My sister, Celsea - who sings like an angel, is in their concert choir and so we went on a double date with my parents to watch her in concert.

The EVMCO is an independent nonprofit organization with the main goal of providing excellent musical training and experience for LDS people in the East Valley.  They have several ensembles including a Symphony Orchestra, East Valley Mormon Choir (adults), Concert Choir (ages 14-18), Youth Chorus (ages 10-14), Children's Chorus (ages 6-10) and Sunbeam Chorus (ages 4-6).

We had prime seats for the concert (which was sold out) - right in the middle on the floor.  The concert was INCREDIBLE.  I was expecting it to be good but it totally knocked my socks off!  During the second number, "I Know That My Redeemer Lives," (adult choir with orchestra) I had tears streaming down my face.  The spirit just filled the room - I had one of those crystal clear moments where there is no question or doubt that Jesus Christ lives and loves me.  I felt so uplifted!

Then some combinations of the different youth and children's choruses sing.  They sang "He Sent His Son" and "My Heavenly Father Loves Me."  These are two of my favorite Primary songs...more tears gushing down my face.  Those sweet, clear voices were divine - the children's testimonies shone!

They sang a darling version of "Pop Corn Popping" -so sweet and whimsical.

Then the tiny little Sunbeams came in and sang "Little Lambs so White and Fair."  These little ones were absolutely DARLING!  The little girls were dressed in white collared blouses with navy blue jumper dresses (little ruffle on the bottom), white knee-high socks, and Mary Janes!  The little boys were all wearing navy blue slacks, white shirts and plaid ties.  It was obvious that they had worked very hard - they stood there with their arms straight down to their sides and watched the conductor and sang their little hearts out.  I have never seen kids that age hold so still for something like that.  (Okay, one little guy in the front had a wiggle in his leg and foot that just couldn't quite be contained but his arms were DOWN to his sides!)  I cannot convey how precious these children were!  (Okay, this is the Primary president speaking here - so I really get into precious children).  :)

Between numbers the conductor talked a little about how important it was for these children to learn about music, singing, concerts, and how to behave in a concert hall.  He talked about how much garbage kids are exposed to everyday and how we need them to be involved in uplifting activities like this.

I realized that I want that for my family.  I would like our home to be a little more refined...cultured.  I think we have a long way to go.  I definitely have plans for Stephen to be part of that little Sunbeam choir next year....

If you live in the East Valley, you MUST go see their next concert (May 19th) "O America."  (I get goosebumps imagining that one).  If you live in Orange County, CA, you are in luck they have another choir there - OCMCO under the same directors.  The OCMCO's next concert is March 31st.

Winner AGAIN??

This is the second time I have won something in the last few days!  First the dance lessons and now, three free ties from The Matching Tie Guy!  They have matching ties available in all sizes from baby on up to daddy size.

It was so funny how it all worked out...I entered the monthly giveaway on Seriously So Blessed - I enter every month because all you have to do is leave a comment so it only takes two seconds.  There are always several cool prizes to win.  That must be why there are always over a thousand entries....  Anyway, I didn't win there, BUT in my comment I mentioned that I would love to "win some of those cool matching ties for my men."  The Matching Tie Guy-lady contacted me and said that I was a winner just for mentioning them in my comment - just pick out the ties we like best, email her and she would send them to me!  Who knew that my little comment would pay off like that?!

We picked out these green and white stripey ties and emailed her with our address so she could send them to us.

She replied to my email and said that she noticed that I was from Mesa, AZ and so are they!  It so happens that The Matching Tie Guy is doing a fundraiser in conjunction with the cub scouts in their ward on Wednesday, March 10th from 4-6 pm.  They will be at the ward building on Sossaman and Ellsworth between Guadalupe and Baseline (not Guadalupe and Elliot - the buildings are less than a mile apart).  For one day only, all of the ties will be on sale for only $10 instead of $15!  She said they will fill all of the orders that week and deliver them by the following Wednesday - in plenty of time for Easter!  I think it is the least I can do to help spread the word since I did score some free ties from them!

(We got the ties with no strings attached - I volunteered to put this little shout-out on my blog to show my thanks for their generosity.)

Arrrgh, Treasure!

Saturday morning brought the long anticipated Fraser Fields Swap.  I woke up bright and early, curled my hair, picked up my friend, Clarissa, and headed on over to be first in line.  (Okay, we were fourth and fifth, but it was just as good!)

There was a 50's vintage theme for the swap so I pulled out a "shirt dress" that I wore between pregnancies.  It was a little snug and needed washed (black gets dusty hanging out in the closet).  I was very paranoid that the dress would shrink so I line-dried it with a  pillow rolled up and stuffed inside....  I hope that is not how my body really looks in that dress!  It totally worked by the way - the dress fit just fine!

My grandmother's cute hat that I borrowed from my mom - this is the real deal people - from the 1950's.  I got lots of compliments on that hat!

At the swap with my cute friend Clarissa.

It was really cold!  Okay, I know I look kind of like a dork - that knit veil was tricky to figure out, but I could not stand to have it over my eyes!  I don't know how my Grandma wore this thing!

My contributions to the swap - that is an "antique" milk bottle holder (from Target), a pair of Silver Jeans, a metal hanging basket of sorts, and a "Families are forever" sign.

Here is the swap stuff all set out - people are checking out the goods!

A picture of most of the people who came.... I didn't really know any of them well except for the friend I brought with me, but I would like to be friends with all of them!

Some of the treasures I choose:
Square blue plate to spice up that shelf.  I need some better candles for those holders....

Unopened Bath and Body Works Sugar scrub and some other scrub - I love this stuff - price tag on the bottom was $20!

A red purse - I would never have bought a red purse for myself since it isn't very practical, but hey when its free, a red purse is just perfect!

This darling knit hat.  (Sweet baby not included).

A (very nice) towel ring for our bathroom.  It was brand new in the box.  This item was a favorite with Scott when I brought it home.  Our house doesn't have rings for hand towels!

I also picked up a green magnet board which is going to hang in our den instead of the ugly cork board that is there now.  I forgot to take a picture of it but it looks like a green metal board...so you will have to use your imagination!

As if all of those treasures weren't enough, I also won a door prize....  One month of ballroom dance lessons from Resonate Dance!  Hee Hee!  Scott is totally thrilled to come with me.  (wink wink) He is actually a really good sport about things like this...now we just have to decide what kind of dance we want to learn.

I got to set up a booth to sell my nursing covers (there was a mini boutique) and had some great success there as well.  As you can see this whole affair was a win-win-win situation for me!  What a fun day!

I love this weather!

We are having a remarkably wet spring here in Arizona.  It seems like every other day we get a new storm rolling through.  One day we looked out one window and saw this:
Gloomy and dark!

Then we looked out a window on the other side of the house and saw this:

Ahh, a lovely spring day!

Actually that was just a small patch of blue.  Most of the sky was totally dark and gray.  I really do enjoy days like this!
