A Family Tradition

We started a new tradition the first year Scott and I were married - each December we have the Quist family over for dinner (always homemade Mexican food) and act out the Nativity complete with costumes songs and scriptures.
We were supposed to have this dinner on Monday night but instead turned it into a combined birthday/nativity/Christmas celebration on Tuesday. (We had to postpone due to an outbreak of a nasty stomach bug started by little Stephen and spread to his Mommy, Cousin Anna, Aunt Chery, Aunt Celsea, Aunt Brooke, Cousins Atley and Talan, Uncle Josh, Grandpa Quist, Daddy, and counting). There were still a few who didn't feel so well but we still managed to have fun.

My brother, Aaron, was Joseph, his wife, Rebecca, was Mary and 8 month old Anna was Baby Jesus. Scott was the star ( I thought he was very convincing as a star) and Stephen was the angel. He was an adorable angel!! The rest of us were miscellaneous shepherds and wisemen. We missed my brother Allen who plays and excellent sheep - he is finishing up finals at BYU. You may not be able to see it in the picture but Scott has a small gold star sticking out of the headband on the left side. It was in the middle of his forehead before...

What a great tradition! Steve didn't need a costume to look like an angel, though it sure looks cute on him! I think Scott made a great star too- he looks so happy to be filling that role too:)

I love hearing of others' traditions...especially newly made ones upon marriage ;) That is cute. How ambitious and FUN!! By the way, loved the birthday update---Happy Belated too! I splurged on brown boots about four years ago and still love the same pair. I have taken them to the shoe repair guy twice and they are still going strong! It's good to splurge everyonce in a while (esp. when it's your birthday! Way to go Scott!)
