Stephen’s field trip to the dairy, a quick trip to Utah, spring break, and General Conference

Stephen and I went on his class field trip to a local dairy.  It was his first ride on a school bus.  He was THRILLED!

Such excitement!

Here are the three little guys I was in charge of keeping track of.

Hmmmm…can’t really tell what that poor creature is that is being mauled by little hands.

Playing on these hay bales was a blast until the bus ride home and all the pokey itchy spots become annoying.

Ah ha!  It was a fluffy bunny of some sort!  I snapped this picture literally seconds before it was mauled again.  You can see the little girl in the blue pants running over there!

I went on a little field trip of my own in March with my parents.  After attending the midnight showing of The Hunger Games with Scott, I slept for 2 hours.  At 4:30AM on Friday, my parents and made the 10 hour drive to Utah on to watch my sister sing in her senior recital at BYU.  She was beautiful and magnificent.  Sorry, no pictures of her but she wore a gorgeous red sparkly gown and sang like an angel.  I slept over with both of my sisters in a college apartment and stayed up until, um, was it 2 or 3AM?  It makes me sick, just remembering it.  We spent a little time together on Saturday and then drove home on Sunday.  It was a very exhausting weekend.  We did stop at this little diversion South of Page.  It is a part of some canyon, not quite the Grand Canyon, but the beginning of it.  It was a short hike from the highway and I was impressed and terrified of the view.  Apparently is is a tourist attraction because most of the people we passed on the trail were speaking languages other than English and Spanish.

That couple in the background had their legs hanging over the edge.  Uhhhh. Yikes!  I read a bit of a book, Over the Edge: Death at the Grand Canyon, that said that many people die at the Grand Canyon and other canyons because they have the mentality that it must be safe or they wouldn’t let people near it…kind of like rides at a theme park…scary, but safe.  No, no, no.  This is nature people, raw, wild and super dangerous if you are not careful.  And, by the way, most men who die at the Grand Canyon, do so after falling while peeing over the edge.  So there you have it.

Stephen had spring break in March and we enjoyed a quiet week at home.  It was so nice not to have the added rush of taking him to and from school.  We played with a home science kit I bought.  Stephen loves science and often tells us that when he grows up he wants to “do potions.”  This is what he says instead of chemistry.

After finishing up our experiments with acids and bases, Stephen liked to play with the liquids left over, mixing and dripping and stirring.

What an adorable little scientist!

Boston had some different experiments in mind as we worked on the kit experiments.  He decided to taste some of the spilled citric acid crystals.  (It was so tempting, just laying there on the table like lovely salt or sugar).  Let’s just say that it was a failed experiment and that it won’t be repeated.  Instant tears confirmed my hypothesis that they were beyond sour.  Don’t worry, he didn’t consume much and it was all non-toxic.

To wrap up the month of March we watched General Conference at home.

The boys were pretty excited because of the candy, treats, and small toys attached to each Apostle and members of the First Presidency’s names.  Yeah, maybe a little less sugar next year, but it kept them in the room!

I an attempt to catch up on blogging I will now share some random pictures from February!

Caught red-handed stealing marshmallows!  It is so hard to get angry at faces like these.  Yeah, we have a toilet in our pantry, so?

Boston went through a phase where he peed and pooped in the yard at his convenience.  The missionaries are over for dinner?  Sure, I'll poop in the yard.  Once he was playing in our backyard for a while and I went out to check on him.  Not to far from where he was standing was a rather conspicuous pile of #2.  I thought it could be Kloie’s but something told me it wasn’t.  It may have been the way Boston was waddling around or his hurry to point out that Kloie pooped right there.  I asked him if he did it and he continued to insist, “no, Kloie did it!”  After a “pants check” the evidence was clear that it was his work.  The little stinker!  Not only did he poop in the yard but he blamed it on the dog!

Uncle Travis, reading to his nephews and niece.  I thought it was very sweet of him…not sure why Stephen is stretching his shirt to death.
